Confession: I Met Someone Online
“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” – C.S. Lewis
At first I couldn’t remember exactly when we first met. I did a little research and found the exact date. December 8, 2008. We had both been using a blog networking site called Alpha Inventions and she bumped me out of the rotation. I’ll never forgive her for that.
Coincidentally (or is it?), December 8th is also Bodhi Day.
At the time I had only been blogging for a little over a month and really had no clue what I was doing (as opposed to today, when I have exactly 1 clue what I’m doing). She left me a very sweet comment and we’ve been following each others’ blogs ever since.

We’ve discussed everything from bird poop to abortion. We’ve both had our fair share of narcissists in our lives and can spot them a mile away (well at least within 40 days or so). We’ve both learned a lot of lessons the hard way but are grateful for the lessons nonetheless.
Where I can be direct, brutally honest and even blunt, Dawn is laid-back (most of the time), understanding and sometimes writes in almost cryptic, poetic metaphors. I once commented to another blogger who we both follow that she is the angel and I am the devil on her shoulders. She seems to be a more zen-wise-go-with-the-flow type of person where I’m more of a high-strung-impatient-neurotic-hot-mess.
She lives in another state but is going to be spending a weekend in my area in a few weeks celebrating her birthday. How cool is it that after talking about our most deep dark secrets and general nonsense for the past few months, we actually get to meet face to face for lunch while she’s here?!
I’m really looking forward to it and hope we have as much fun in person as we do online!
Thanks for stopping by!

Cool……..pictures!
so you will be hammering the details for our road trip, right?
Yes, we will be finalizing the itinerary and sampling alcoholic beverages….feel free to join us!
Funny thing I was shopping online for RV rentals in Chicago yesterday. I want to test drive the best potential rock star bus. BTW, the rates are cheaper in Chicago than here. I am taking this VERY seriously … I aim too have fun.
Pinch me!
Very cool!
Very cool! I love meeting people online. To date I’ve met 4 people IRL that started as internet friendships — INCLUDING Johnny!! In a little over a week a friend I met online in Feb. 2006 will be flying here to stay w/ me so we can finally spend some time together! She’s been a fantastic friend and we spend hours on the phone, so it seems a little funny that we’ve never really met in person. Oh and also I’m having a food blogger event at my house this weekend where I’ll meet 5 food bloggers I’ve met online.
haha wow I really spend too much time on the Internet, huh???
Wow, I did know that you met Johnny online but had no idea about all your online friends or your blogger event. Hope you guys have a great time!
I’m so jealous! How fun — can’t wait to see the photographic evidence:) I hope that at some point I get to meet all my internet friends as well, yourself included. We need to go see John together when he starts touring for his new album:)
Ooohhh….I’ve got it, we can be like Deadheads and just follow JM all around the country. We can stop and see Jason Mraz whenever we get a chance too. And books. We’ll need lots of books.
You guys better give the scoop. This sounds like phase I of the road trip. Have fun!
Wow, sounds like fun time for you two. Have a great time.
