“The word ‘organize’ and the word ‘organic’ come from the same place. Organic is to be whole; to be complete. That’s what organization does. Organization actually helps you live a richer, fuller, less stressed life.” – Peter Walsh

Peter Walsh, from TLC’s Clean Sweep, has teamed up with Office Max on a new line of workspace organization products called InPlace System.
After watching his webcast, I was inspired to organize my own office and used the InPlace System Organization Kit to get some of my files in order.
One of the things I like the most about this system is the erasable marker. It is a fine-tipped, permanent ink, black marker on one end, with an erasing solvent and eraser on the other end. You can write on the polypropylene surface of the document sleeves, envelopes, file folders and on the color coded clip tabs, and then erase them anytime you need to. This came in particularly handy recently as I was doing my 2008 tax returns. I was able to keep everything organized utilizing this system. Once I had filed my tax returns with the IRS, I put everything away in my permanent filing cabinet and erased everything I had written on the clip tabs and file folders so that I can use them for something else.
The color coding is helpful too. I have assigned each member of the family a color and use the coordinating clip tabs and super sticky Post-It Notes to keep files pertaining to each of us.
I’m using the portable file tote to keep everything I need for my job hunt. I have different file folders in there at all times to hold copies of resumes, business cards, writing samples and directions. Having all of these items ready to go makes life much easier than my previous system of frantically printing everything out as I was trying to get out the door, already running late!
And now for the good stuff…..the giveaway!

I like his idea of dividing organizational clutter into smaller projects so as to become overwhelmed with the whole idea of clutter.
I liked his idea of avoiding placing too much pressure on yourself and being sidetracked by the end result. I can use this idea for more than just removing clutter!
I am the “Queen of Clutter” Really need some help. I do become overwhelmed very easily and then just give up. Reducing pressure on youself is good idea -not easy, but good idea. Hey, I love the rubber band roll. I can never find them when I need them.
The color coding for omdividual family members.
When I was growing up I was as messy as every other kid but when I had to raise 4 children as a single parent I soon learned that the few minutes I spend organizing things and overcoming my pack rat genes was the difference between happiness and insanity. I don’t consider myself obsessive but I do like to keep things from papers to my pantry neat and organized because, truth be told, in the long run the time I take organizing things actually leaves me more time to do the things I want to do and enjoy, however my son, bless his heart is so disorganized I don’t honestly know how he manages to keep his business running but I do know it would go a lot better for him if I could get him to organize and get rid of so much clutter and this system seems like just the thing to do it. I believe that once a person gets organized and gets rid of clutter they find their lives are so mch better they continue to make the effort to do it.
I liked the idea of dividing the mess into smaller projects so that you don’t get overwhelmed. Sometimes I look at the clutter and give up. I realize that attacking one pile at a time without thinking about finishing is the key. I can use all the organizational help out there!
the whole color coordinating setup would be useful in my house, because I have 4 people living with me and we can never find anything.
I liked his idea of breaking large tasks into smaller ones and rewarding yourself after you complete each step. I can do that!
I would like to get my office organized
Great idea about not placing too much pressure on yourself.
I love Peter’s idea of stopping and acknowledging when your workspace becomes cluttered and dividing your organizing into smaller projects, starting with one small project such as filing a stack of papers and work your way around. This would work for me because sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with everything that is going on around my workspace and office. Thanks so much for such a wonderful giveaway, this would definitely come in handy for me!

I like rewarding yourself!
Motivation is easier if there’s something fun to look forward to at the end.
I also love that the markers can erase and be re-used! Finally!
For a little planning relief, combine home and work calendars
I like the idea of color-coding your calendar to indicate social, professional & personal entries — you can prioritize in an instant!
Organizing is essential but can be fun.
I love how motivating he is!
i need to win this !!!!!!!!!!!!!
He suggests that you divide your organization endeavor into smaller projects, and start with one small task such as filing a stack of papers.
I like the idea that to use diff colors for diff stuff. Professional appts vs personal appts vs social appts. Great idea.
do smaller projects. mverno@roadrunner.com
tip “or a little planning relief, combine home and work calendars. Simply choose various colors to mark important dates: one for professional tasks and meetings; another for personal appointments and a third for social
engagements.” Good idea, I need to do that
When you start to feel overwhelmed with clutter, stop and acknowledge the situation. Next, divide your organization endeavor into smaller projects, and start with one small task such as filing a stack of papers. Don’t place too much pressure on yourself and avoid being sidetracked by the end result.
So true, I always get sidetracked thinking about the end result.
His best advice to me is “avoid being sidetracked” it is way too easy to do when cleaning up things you haven’t seenin awhile!
For each small task completed, reward yourself with something you enjoy. Before you know it, you’ll have a tidy desk that makes you feel more satisfied and in-control of your work!
different colors for different projects
