Personal Bill Of Rights

2009 February 19

“No person is your friend who demands your silence, or denies your right to grow.”Alice Walker

Once again, no, I haven’t joined a twelve step group.  My friend over at Transitions And New Beginnings posted this list a few days ago.  Loving anything psychologically empowering, no matter how clichéd, I of course tracked down the source and had to post it here.

Those of us who have been people-pleasing doormats most of our lives aren’t aware that we have these rights.  We gave up our power long ago, or never knew we even had any power to give up.  Those of you who can’t relate to this at all….good for you!

If I had read this two years ago, I wouldn’t have believed that I had the power to insist on the majority of these items being met.   There are many others out there feeling that way right now, and it….well, it sucks. That’s a technical term by the way.

You KNOW I love it! And, I like hearing it again, and again.

Also, I wanted you to know I have a secret place behind the panel of my closet. It was the thing that sold my daughters on taking this apartment in a one hundred (plus) year old building. Love it.
