The Obligatory Presidential Inauguration Post
“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.” – President Barack Obama
I watched it. All day. What is it with Ted Kennedy, does he always have to steal everyone’s thunder? Ok, that wasn’t nice. But you laughed a little didn’t you?
I’m no political pundit. I don’t want to get into debating politics. I will say that I am not sad to see the past administration exit. I will also say that President Obama is a great orator. Maybe he really isn’t. Maybe I just got so used to Bush spewing unintelligible nonsense for the past eight years that I have lowered my standards. “Strategery”. No, that wasn’t Bush, it was Will Farrell. I digress…

I will also say that President Obama is inspirational. He inspires hope. We can use some hope. I think the vast majority of politicians are corrupt and greedy bastards. I hope he isn’t. He doesn’t seem to be, but then again, maybe he’s such an excellent public speaker (or is he?) that even I, a cynical, jaded anti-politician have turned into an idealistic believer. I hope not.
There are extremely high expectations for him and his administration. I hope he can live up to them.
Thanks for stopping by!

Me too!
You got a problem with idealistic believers?!
(J/K…..I know!)
oh my gosh, your comparison of the oratory abilities of the two men is spot on! i watched george w’s inauguration speech on youtube after watching the tv coverage and obama’s speech quite a few times, and it was embarrassing that this country (not me) voted for that man who has now rightfully gone back to where he came from. we deserve a president who is really smart — i want him (or her) to be way smarter than me because that is a really hard job and i could never do it! i am so hopeful that obama is as sincere and kind and thoughtful and honest as he seems to be — i have a feeling that he is.
i have great hope that things will get better — it would be hard for them to get worse. i am just glad the bush’s are not moving into my neighborhood…. it was bad enough that they had some sway over my life for eight years!
Of course not, I’m just not one of them!
I’ll have to watch W’s inauguration speech for a laugh.
